THE NEED FOR CNIB GUIDE DOGS HAS INCREASED BY 375% DUE TO COVID-19
As a monthly donor, you’ll receive regular updates on the puppies in training. And as a small token of our enormous gratitude, we’ll also send you a fridge magnet featuring a puppy with purpose.
Please become a CNIB Guide Dogs monthly supporter today.
It takes time to train these extraordinary dogs. Your support each month means we can be there every step of the way, for their entire working lives.
Puppies spend their earliest days with their mother and siblings.
The puppy is placed with a volunteer Puppy Raiser who helps them learn house training, basic obedience skills, cues, and routines.
Still living with a volunteer Puppy Raiser, the puppy focuses on leash manners, self control, and socialization, including exposure to other animals, crowds and public spaces.
Time to get serious! The puppy is introduced to the harness and works with a guide dog trainer to learn all aspects of guide dog mobility.
The puppy is matched with a Canadian with sight loss, their new best friend and handler. They learn to work together on a journey that you made possible!
Together, the guide dog and handler navigate through all life has to offer with confidence and independence.
At around age 10, the guide dog will retire and become a beloved family pet.
Monthly giving is the best way to support CNIB’s vital programs and powerful advocacy that change what it is to be blind.
As a CNIB Guide Dogs supporter, your donations are also used to cover the costs of everything from the care and training of the puppies to food, vet visits, and more for every puppy and for their entire working lives.
Monthly donations provide critical long-term support that help ensure no one ever has to wait longer than necessary to access mobility, independence and freedom. If you’d like to learn more about the many benefits of monthly giving or if you have questions, please click here.
